In the quiet community of unincorporated Stone Mountain, Georgia, a domestic dispute shattered the evening of Saturday, April 26, 2014, leaving two people dead and a family irrevocably broken. Rubii Wandi Cross, a 34-year-old female, was found deceased in her home on Mossy Creek Drive in a tragic event that authorities would soon label a murder-suicide.
Gwinnett County police were initially called to the residence to investigate a domestic dispute. Upon their arrival, the situation escalated, and officers became concerned for Rubii's safety. After obtaining a search warrant and making entry into the home, the SWAT team discovered the bodies of both Rubii and her 43-year-old husband, Leo Cross.
Investigators believe that Leo Cross fatally shot his wife before turning the gun on himself just as law enforcement was arriving at the scene. Both were pronounced dead at the residence. The Gwinnett County police department stated that the case was being treated as a murder-suicide and that they were not searching for any other suspects in connection with the deaths.
At the time of the incident, there were no children present in the home. The couple's next-of-kin were notified of the devastating loss. The community was left to mourn the untimely death of Rubii Cross, a life cut short by an act of domestic violence.
