Skyler Gilmore, a 25-year-old Black transgender woman from Stone Mountain, Georgia, was tragically shot and killed on June 4, 2021. Skyler, who was known for her vibrant personality and described as "the life of the party," worked as a cashier at a department store. However, she was also forced into survival sex work, a harsh reality for many transgender women of color who face systemic discrimination and lack of opportunities.
