In the late morning of March 30, 2020, in Statesboro, Georgia, a disagreement between family members escalated into a fatal encounter. Robert Keyjuan Lawson, a 21-year-old male, was found lying in the yard of a residence on C. Brown Road with an apparent gunshot wound. Relatives at the scene were performing CPR when law enforcement and emergency medical services arrived.
Despite their efforts, Lawson was pronounced deceased at the scene.
Initially, witnesses and relatives informed investigators that Lawson had been involved in a dispute with an 'unknown person' which resulted in gunfire. However, as the investigation progressed throughout the day, detectives uncovered that the individual who had argued with Lawson was his uncle, Shannon Antonio Postell, who lived next door. Interviews and collected evidence led authorities to identify Postell as the shooter.
A warrant for murder was issued for the arrest of Shannon Antonio Postell. Later that evening, at approximately 9:30 p.m., investigators received information that Postell had returned to his home. Deputies and investigators were able to locate him there and take him into custody without any further incident. Postell was arrested and charged with the murder of his nephew. He was subsequently booked into the Bulloch County Jail and held without bond pending further court proceedings. Additional criminal charges against him were also being considered as the investigation continued. Robert Keyjuan Lawson's body was taken to the GBI Medical Examiner's office for an autopsy.
