On the night of October 31, 2020, 37-year-old Malcolm Jerome Steele, an African American male, was tragically shot multiple times at the Morris Heights Apartments on Morris Street in Statesboro, Georgia. The incident occurred around 11:30 PM, and upon arrival, officers found Steele suffering from several gunshot wounds. He was immediately transported to East Georgia Regional Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead shortly after arrival.
