In the late hours of a Monday night in June 2020, a sense of normalcy was shattered in a Lawrenceville, Georgia apartment complex. Inside her home on Club Lakes Parkway, 35-year-old Shamecia Byrd was with three other people when gunfire erupted from outside. Struck by a bullet that penetrated the apartment walls, the female victim was found by Gwinnett County police who had been called to the scene just before midnight on June 15th.
