In a tragic and violent outburst that shattered a quiet Lawrenceville, Georgia afternoon, 37-year-old Chheng Voight lost her life at the hands of her former husband. The harrowing incident unfolded on a Thursday in late August 2014, beginning as a domestic dispute inside a home on Chris Lake Drive and spilling out into the street for all to see.
The conflict, which started in the dining room, escalated with horrifying speed.
Chhay Hour, 60, began stabbing his ex-wife, Chheng Voight, and her 59-year-old mother, Ya Van. The violence then moved outdoors, where witnesses saw the brutal attack continue. One neighbor, witnessing the repeated stabbing, confronted Hour and, after his verbal commands to stop were ignored, fired a shot at Hour's vehicle as he began to flee.
Following the savage assault, Hour drove away from the scene, leaving behind a scene of devastation. Chheng Voight succumbed to her injuries and was pronounced dead. Her mother, Ya Van, was also seriously wounded in the attack but was transported to a local hospital and was expected to recover. Two young children who were present in the home during the incident were unharmed and released into the care of a family member.
