In the quiet town of Sylvania, Georgia, a tragedy unfolded on a December evening, forever altering the lives of a local family. On Sunday, December 27, 2020, 29-year-old Porcha Nicole Carter, a female corrections officer and dispatcher for the Screven County Sheriff's Office, was shot and killed. The incident, which took place at a laundromat on West Ogeechee Street, has been investigated by the Screven County Sheriff's Office as a murder-suicide.
