A fatal encounter unfolded on a February afternoon in Stone Mountain, Georgia, leading to the death of 22-year-old Aquandis Foston. The incident, which occurred on February 20, 2021, stemmed from a dispute described as a 'love triangle.' Authorities responded to a call about a person shot outside a townhouse on Wells Circle and discovered Foston with a single gunshot wound to the chest.
He was pronounced dead at the scene.
The investigation revealed that the girlfriend of Isaac Thompson, Makayla Bolston, had invited Foston to the residence. Upon Foston's arrival, he was confronted by Thompson and another man, who told him to leave. An argument ensued, during which Thompson shot Foston. Thompson then fled the scene. A few days later, Isaac Maurice Thompson, then 21 years old, was arrested in connection with the shooting.
Isaac Thompson was charged with murder and aggravated assault. In November 2024, a DeKalb County jury found Thompson, then 24, guilty of felony murder, aggravated assault, and possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony. He was subsequently sentenced to life in prison without the possibility of parole, plus an additional five years. Makayla Bolston was also indicted on charges of malice murder, felony murder, and aggravated assault for her alleged role in luring Foston to the location. Her case is still pending.
