In the summer of 2023, a family tragedy unfolded in Stone Mountain, Georgia, ending in the death of 56-year-old Anthony Bronson. On the afternoon of Sunday, July 9th, police were called to a residence at the Park at 500 Apartment Homes on Old Front Street. There, they discovered Bronson had been fatally shot. From the outset of the investigation, law enforcement officials believed the victim knew his assailant.
For nearly a month, the investigation continued as the suspect remained at
large. The DeKalb County Police Department identified Bronson's younger brother, 37-year-old Ahmed Kawah, as the primary suspect in the deadly shooting. The motive for the fatal encounter has not been publicly released by authorities. The search for Kawah concluded on August 2nd, when he was located and taken into custody without incident. He was found on a MARTA bus on North Decatur Road in the nearby city of Decatur.
Following his arrest, Ahmed Kawah was charged with Felony Malice Murder in connection with the death of his brother, Anthony Bronson. He was booked into the DeKalb County Jail, where he is being held without bond as he awaits further legal proceedings. The case has left a family fractured and a community seeking answers as it moves through the criminal justice system.
