On a Saturday night in Monroe, Georgia, the life of 21-year-old Tyreke Mardrell Strozier was tragically cut short. The events of April 24, 2021, unfolded on Gliding Lane, where police responded to a call of a male shot shortly after 10 p.m. Upon arrival, they found Strozier inside a residence with a gunshot wound to his chest. He was transported to Piedmont Walton Hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries.
The investigation into Strozier's death quickly led police to a second scene just a few blocks away on East Church Street. There, they discovered a crashed vehicle with another man, 23-year-old Jevaun Campbell, deceased inside from what appeared to be a self-inflicted gunshot wound.
Authorities determined that the two incidents were connected, classifying the case as a murder-suicide. According to the investigation, Campbell went to the Gliding Lane home where he found Strozier with the mother of his child. An altercation ensued, during which Campbell shot Strozier. Following the shooting, Campbell fled the scene in his vehicle, which he crashed shortly before taking his own life. The investigation concluded with Campbell identified as the sole suspect in Strozier's death.
