In the summer of 2021, the life of 21-year-old Kileal Antwan Floyd, a male resident of Valdosta, Georgia, was tragically cut short. On the night of Monday, July 19, 2021, gunshots echoed outside a convenience store located in the 700 block of East Park Avenue. Responding to a 911 call at approximately 10:28 p.m., Valdosta Police officers, already in the vicinity, arrived at the scene within moments to find Floyd with a gunshot wound. Despite their immediate efforts to render aid and the swift response of emergency medical services, Floyd succumbed to his injuries after being transported to a local hospital.
The investigation into the homicide quickly led to arrests. The day after the shooting, police apprehended 19-year-old Da'briana Reynolds, charging her with felony murder and possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony. On the same day, 21-year-old Jakhari Daniels was taken into custody and charged with hindering the apprehension of a criminal and tampering with evidence. Authorities indicated that the individuals involved were acquainted with Floyd, suggesting the shooting was an isolated incident.
Further investigation by the Valdosta Police Department led to the identification of additional suspects. In December 2022, a Lowndes County Grand Jury handed down indictments against Da'briana Reynolds and Devin Omar Reynolds for felony murder. Da'briana Reynolds faced additional charges, including three counts of possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony and two counts of aggravated assault. Devin Omar Reynolds was also indicted on two counts of possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony and two counts of aggravated assault.
The grand jury also indicted Quintavius Washington on a charge of felony murder, along with three counts of possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony, possession of a firearm by a first offender probationer, and two counts of aggravated assault. Jakhari Daniels was formally indicted on the charge of tampering with evidence. In January 2023, Quintavius Washington was apprehended by police following a chase in a stolen vehicle, during which he was also charged with felony theft by taking a motor vehicle, two felony counts of criminal damage to property, and misdemeanor obstruction of an officer. The outcomes of the legal proceedings for Da'briana Reynolds, Devin Omar Reynolds, Quintavius Washington, and Jakhari Daniels have not been publicly reported.
