In the quiet city of Valdosta, Georgia, a life was tragically cut short on the evening of Friday, April 3, 2020. Quintavius Antwan Thomas, a 31-year-old male, was killed by a gunshot wound to his upper body. The incident unfolded at a residence on McAfina Trail, where police responded to a shooting report at approximately 8:09 p.m. Upon their arrival, they discovered Thomas deceased at the scene.
The investigation into the shooting revealed a preceding physical altercation between Thomas and another individual, Dontavia Freeman. During this struggle, Freeman allegedly gained control of a handgun and fired, striking Thomas and another person. The second victim was transported to South Georgia Medical Center in serious condition.
Following the shooting, Freeman fled the scene but was later located by authorities at a residence on Schroer Drive. He was taken into custody without incident. Law enforcement also recovered evidence connecting him to the shooting at this location. Freeman was subsequently taken to the Lowndes County Jail. He faced charges of felony murder, two counts of aggravated assault, and possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime.
