In the quiet of a late Sunday evening in Albany, Georgia, on August 8, 2021, a devastating act of violence shattered the peace of a family and a community. Inside his home on West Gordon Avenue, 9-year-old Nigel Lamar Brown was asleep in his bed when gunfire erupted from a passing vehicle. A bullet pierced the walls of the house and struck the young boy in the head, ending his life as he slept.
