On November 19, 2021, 18-year-old Montavious Raines, an African American male from Macon, Georgia, was fatally shot in the parking lot of Lake Wildwood Baptist Church on Greentree Parkway. Deputies from the Bibb County Sheriff’s Office responded to a call around 8 p.m. and found Raines with a gunshot wound to the chest. He was pronounced dead at the scene by Deputy Coroner Luann Stone. The incident was part of a tragic night in Macon, which saw two separate homicides within hours.
