On September 17, 1978, a flight carrying 52-year-old Marion O. Parker and two other individuals, James Madsen Jr. and Nekita Katelnikoff, departed from King Salmon, Alaska, with an intended destination of Kodiak. The charter flight, operated by Viking Air Services, never reached its destination. The aircraft, a twin-engine Cessna 411, is believed to have gone down in the Shelikof Strait, a turbulent body of water that separates Kodiak Island from the Alaskan mainland.
