That Friday evening, just after 7 p.m., deputies from the Bibb County Sheriff's Office were dispatched to the 1200 block of Rice Place following a report of a person shot
inside a car. Upon their arrival, they discovered James Smith in his vehicle, suffering from a gunshot wound to his chest. He was rushed to the Medical Center, Atrium Health Navicent, but tragically succumbed to his injuries.
