In the early morning hours of January 4, 2022, the life of 55-year-old Casey Bernard Patrick, a Black/African American male, was tragically cut short in his Cordele, Georgia home. At approximately 12:20 A.M., the sound of gunfire pierced the quiet of the 1200 block of East Blue Lane, prompting a response from the Cordele Police Department. Inside a residence, officers discovered Patrick with a gunshot wound.
Emergency medical services were dispatched to the scene, and Patrick was swiftly transported to Crisp Regional Hospital in a desperate attempt to save his life. Despite the efforts of medical personnel, he succumbed to his injuries and passed away. The initial investigation pointed to a drive-by shooting, with reports indicating that Patrick had been asleep in his bed when he was fatally wounded.
In the wake of the shooting, the Cordele Police Department and the Georgia Bureau of Investigation launched a homicide investigation into Patrick's death. As of early 2024, those responsible for the death of Casey Bernard Patrick have not been publicly identified, and no arrests have been announced in connection with the case. The investigation remains active and ongoing.

The Crisp County Sheriff's Office has offered a $5,000 reward for any information that leads to the arrest and conviction of the individual or individuals responsible for Patrick's murder.
