On the night of March 23, 2022, Glen Eugene Stevens, a 34-year-old male, was enjoying a first date in Macon, Georgia. He and his companion were sitting in a car, listening to music outside an apartment complex on Northside Drive, when their evening was violently interrupted. An armed man, later identified as Brian Greene, approached the vehicle and attempted to rob the couple.
Stevens, in an act of bravery, tried to fight off his assailant.
During the struggle, Greene shot Stevens three times before fleeing the scene. Stevens's date, who was unharmed, immediately called 911 and, following the operator's instructions, attempted to render aid. Despite her efforts, Stevens was pronounced dead at 11:19 p.m. in the parking lot of the apartment complex.
The investigation into the senseless killing of Glen Eugene Stevens led authorities to Brian Greene. In a grim turn of events, just eight days after Stevens's murder, Greene would claim another life. On March 31, 2022, he shot and killed Elijah Rasheed in the parking lot of a Family Dollar on Napier Avenue. Investigators believe Rasheed and his friends were targeted because they were members of the LGBTQ+ community. The weapon used in Rasheed's murder was forensically linked to the shell casings found at the scene of Stevens's death, connecting Greene to both homicides.
Following a four-day trial in October 2024, a jury found Brian Greene guilty of two counts of murder for the deaths of Glen Eugene Stevens and Elijah Rasheed. He was also convicted on charges of aggravated assault and possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony. The testimony of Stevens's date was a key factor in securing the conviction. Greene now awaits sentencing for his crimes.
