An argument at a Decatur, Georgia gas station on a Tuesday evening tragically escalated, claiming the life of 44-year-old Christopher Harrold, a male who was merely an innocent bystander. On May 17, 2022, Harrold, the owner of a tow truck company, was training a new employee, De'Andre Dean. The two had stopped at a Chevron gas station on Columbia Drive when the fatal encounter unfolded.
Dean reportedly got into a dispute with 25-year-old Victor Richardson over money.
The argument intensified, and at some point, Richardson brandished a firearm. Following the initial confrontation, Richardson drove away, only to circle back and open fire. Harrold, who had remained in the driver's seat of his tow truck throughout the argument, was struck by the gunfire. He was rushed to a local hospital where he was pronounced dead.
In the aftermath of the shooting, investigators with the DeKalb County Police Department quickly identified Victor Richardson as the primary suspect. He was apprehended two days later and subsequently charged with murder and aggravated assault. The passenger in Harrold's vehicle was questioned by police but was not taken into custody.
Victor Richardson was later convicted by a jury on charges of Voluntary Manslaughter, Felony Murder, and Aggravated Assault, as well as firearm possession charges. For his role in the death of Christopher Harrold, he was sentenced to 50 years in prison.
