On the morning of June 14, 2022, Eurl Kittles, a 42-year-old Black man from Augusta, was at the Captain D's on Wrightsboro Road when violence suddenly broke through an ordinary workday. Richmond County deputies were sent to the restaurant at about 9:25 a.m. after a shooting was reported, and when they arrived they found Kittles suffering from at least one gunshot wound. The coroner later said he was pronounced dead at the scene at 10:20 a.m., turning a daytime visit to a busy restaurant into one ...
