In the summer of 2022, a 24-year-old Black woman named Allahnia Lenoir vanished after an evening with a friend in Midtown Atlanta. She was last seen on July 30, 2022, at the Peachtree Midtown Apartments on Peachtree Street. Lenoir and a friend had gone to the apartment complex to visit two men. Her friend left the apartment, leaving Lenoir with the two men, and reported that everything seemed fine at the time. Surveillance footage captured Lenoir entering the building, but there was no evidence of her ever walking out on her own. When she failed to return home, her family reported her missing on August 1, 2022.

As the days turned into weeks with no sign of Allahnia, her family tirelessly distributed flyers, desperate for any information that might lead to her whereabouts. The Atlanta Police Department's investigation soon uncovered evidence suggesting foul play. In September 2022, investigators announced their belief that Lenoir had been murdered inside the apartment and that her body had been disposed of. Although extensive searches were conducted, her remains have never been found.

The investigation led to the identification of three suspects. Diante Reynolds was taken into custody in September 2022 and faced a litany of charges, including murder, concealing the death of another, and tampering with evidence. A second suspect, Nicholas Hendrickson, was arrested in November of that year on charges that included concealing a death, tampering with evidence, and making false statements. The third suspect, Steven Oboite, remained a fugitive for nearly two years.

According to court documents, investigators believe that Reynolds and Oboite gave Lenoir opiates. When she went into medical distress, they allegedly failed to call for help in an attempt to cover up the situation. Hendrickson is accused of assisting the other two men in moving and disposing of her body. The indictment also alleges that Hendrickson lied to investigators about traveling to Alabama the day after Lenoir was last seen.

In June 2024, the nearly two-year manhunt for Steven Oboite came to an end. He was apprehended at Lake Allatoona after game wardens stopped him on a jet ski for a violation and he attempted to flee. Oboite now faces charges of murder and concealing the death of another, among others. Meanwhile, Nicholas Hendrickson, the only suspect not charged with murder, was granted a $20,000 bond and released in July 2025. However, he later failed to appear for a court hearing, and a warrant was issued for his arrest. The trials for the suspects have faced delays, prolonging the wait for justice for Allahnia Lenoir's family.
