In the early evening of October 8, 2022, a domestic disturbance in Macon, Georgia, escalated into a violent encounter that left 56-year-old Tommy Williams dead. Bibb County Sheriff's deputies were initially called to a residence in the 1400 block of Bailey Avenue around 6:48 p.m. regarding a domestic situation. While on their way, they received another report of a second person shot in the 3100 block of Napier Avenue. At each location, deputies discovered a male suffering from gunshot wounds.
Both injured men were transported to a local hospital for treatment. Tragically, Tommy Williams succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead. The second individual, later identified as 24-year-old Brandon Niadrian Neal, was listed in stable condition. Investigators determined that the two incidents were connected, originating from the initial altercation on Bailey Avenue.
The investigation into Williams' death led authorities to identify Brandon Neal as the suspect. On January 19, 2023, deputies located Neal at a residence on Napier Avenue. After a search of the home, Neal was taken into custody without incident. He was subsequently charged with involuntary manslaughter and booked into the Bibb County jail, where he was held without bond.
During the arrest of Brandon Neal, his mother, Tamona Latrell Howard, was also taken into custody at the same location. She was charged with hindering the apprehension or punishment of a criminal and was also held without bond. The investigation into the circumstances that led to the fatal shooting of Tommy Williams is ongoing.
