Malik Brown, an 18-year-old former high school football player from Jacksonville, Florida, was tragically killed on January 3, 2020. According to the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office, the shooting that led to Brown's death may have stemmed from a robbery attempt.
The investigation revealed that Brown was involved in a double shooting, which also left another man wounded. The police believe that the shooting was connected to a drug deal gone wrong. Denyasha Jamaal Daniel, a 27-year-old man who was also wounded in the incident, was later arrested and charged with third-degree murder. Daniel reportedly set up a drug deal but, fearing that one of the individuals he met was attempting to rob him, he pulled out a handgun and fired, resulting in Brown's death.
