Patrol Special Police Officer Joseph W. Boswell, aged 53, tragically lost his life on May 3, 1977, in San Francisco, California. Officer Boswell was fatally shot while interrupting a robbery at a drugstore located at 2450 San Bruno Avenue. The incident occurred around 9:00 pm when three suspects had taken five drugstore employees hostage.
