On New Year's Day in 2019, Laura Rose Crowley, a 59-year-old White female, was found deceased in her Martinsville, Indiana, home in the Shireman Estates neighborhood. The tragic discovery was made by her adult son, who then alerted the authorities. Inside the residence, law enforcement also found the body of her live-in boyfriend, 59-year-old Danny Kilgore Jr.
Investigators from the Martinsville Police Department promptly determined the case to be a murder-suicide.
The evidence suggested that Kilgore shot and killed Crowley before turning the gun on himself. People close to Crowley informed investigators that she had been planning to end her relationship with Kilgore, which is believed to be the motive for the tragic events that unfolded. A search of court records indicated no prior history of domestic violence between the couple.
Laura Crowley was a respected attorney and a partner at the law firm Lee Cossell & Crowley in Indianapolis, where she specialized in medical negligence cases. Originally from Brooklyn, New York, she had earned a nursing degree before pursuing a law degree from the Indiana University School of Law. She was an active member of several legal associations and was remembered by colleagues for her dedication and contributions to the legal community. The investigation concluded that Kilgore was the sole perpetrator, and consequently, no arrests were made in connection with Crowley's death.
