In the fading daylight of a late November evening in 2015, the life of James Earl Rogers, a 27-year-old Black/African American man, was tragically cut short in Birmingham, Alabama. On Saturday, November 28th, Rogers was found shot in the West End neighborhood of the city.
The initial call brought Birmingham police officers to the scene on 1st Street West, where they discovered Rogers unresponsive.
He had sustained a gunshot wound, and despite the immediate response from medical personnel, he was pronounced dead at the location. The Jefferson County Coroner's Office later confirmed his identity.
