Tyree Foster, a 52-year-old man from Burbank, California, was tragically killed on July 4, 2022, in Oakland. Foster was shot while he was in the driver's seat of his vehicle in the 8700 block of Dowling Street in East Oakland. The incident occurred shortly before 11:30 p.m. As a result of the shooting, Foster's vehicle crashed, and he was pronounced dead at the scene.
The Oakland Police Department released his name a few days later, confirming the details of the fatal shooting.
The investigation into Foster's death revealed that he had been visiting Oakland for about a week before the incident. Although he had ties to Oakland, he was most recently residing in the Woodland Hills area of Los Angeles County. Authorities have not yet determined a clear motive for the killing. However, it is believed that Foster may have gotten into an argument with someone on the street, which escalated to the fatal shooting as he attempted to drive away.
As of now, no arrests have been made in connection with Foster's murder. The Oakland Police Department, along with Crime Stoppers of Oakland, is offering a reward of up to $10,000 for information leading to the arrest of the perpetrator. The investigation remains ongoing, with authorities urging anyone with information to come forward and assist in solving the case. Despite the efforts of law enforcement, the lack of witnesses and concrete leads has made progress in the investigation challenging.
