Irving W. Smith, a 42-year-old police officer, tragically lost his life on February 29, 1980, in Brooklyn, New York. Officer Smith was off-duty and present at a bar located at 477 Rogers Avenue when the incident occurred. Two men entered the bar with the intent to rob it.
