John G. Scarangella, a 42-year-old NYPD officer, tragically lost his life on April 16, 1981, in Queens, New York. Scarangella and his partner, Officer Richard Rainey, were conducting a routine traffic stop on 116th Avenue when they were ambushed by two heavily armed gunmen.
