In the early morning hours of October 14, 2021, the life of 29-year-old Emanie Gerard Anderson Jr. was tragically cut short. Police were called to a residence on Hyacinth Avenue in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, around 1:40 a.m., where they discovered Anderson had been fatally shot. He was pronounced dead at the scene, leaving investigators with an immediate mystery as the motive and the person responsible were unknown.
For nearly two years, the case remained unsolved, a painful open wound for those who knew and loved Anderson.
The investigation into Anderson's death took a dramatic and unexpected turn in July 2023. A 42-year-old woman named Janice Frazier was arrested in connection with the separate shooting death of her current boyfriend, 34-year-old Christopher Holden. Holden's body had been found in a park by volunteers, and the ensuing investigation pointed to Frazier as the primary suspect. After her arrest for Holden's murder, Frazier made a startling confession to detectives while in custody.
Frazier admitted that she was the one who had shot and killed Emanie Anderson Jr. back in 2021. She revealed that she and Anderson had been in a domestic relationship. With this confession, a cold case was suddenly solved. Based on her admission, the Baton Rouge Police Department arrested Frazier for Anderson's death. She was booked into the East Baton Rouge Parish Prison, facing charges of second-degree murder and illegal use of a weapon for the death of her former boyfriend, in addition to the charges related to the death of Christopher Holden.
