George J. Werdann, a 23-year-old police officer with the New York City Police Department, tragically lost his life on February 21, 1982, in the Bronx, New York. Officer Werdann was off-duty when he observed a robbery taking place at a local supermarket. Demonstrating his commitment to public safety, he pursued the suspects in his personal vehicle.
