In the early morning hours of Saturday, August 27, 2022, tragedy struck in the Bronx when 22-year-old Joshua Thomas was fatally shot. The incident unfolded around 3:50 a.m. near the intersection of East Burnside Avenue and Grand Concourse, a typically bustling area that was plunged into chaos by the sound of gunfire. When police from the 46th Precinct arrived at the scene, they discovered a harrowing sight: three young men suffering from gunshot wounds.
Joshua Thomas, a resident of
Olinville Avenue, had sustained a catastrophic gunshot wound to his head. Emergency medical services rushed him to St. Barnabas Hospital, but his injury proved too severe, and he was pronounced dead. The two other victims, a 25-year-old man shot in the leg and another 22-year-old man shot in the torso, were also transported to the same hospital. The 25-year-old was listed in stable condition, while the other 22-year-old was in critical condition.

The following day, on Sunday, August 28, 2022, police formally arrested and charged Roman Anderson of White Plains Road with the murder of Joshua Thomas.
