On the evening of October 18, 1988, a 26-year-old New York City Police Officer named Christopher Hoban, a man of Caucasian descent, lost his life in the line of duty. Working as an undercover narcotics officer in Manhattan, Hoban and his partner entered an apartment on West 105th Street to conduct a drug buy. The operation took a fatal turn when the three men inside the apartment grew suspicious of the two officers.
