On the evening of March 10, 2003, Detective Rodney J. Andrews, a 34-year-old Black male, was tragically killed during an undercover firearms operation in Staten Island, New York. Working alongside his partner, Detective James V. Nemorin, Andrews was attempting to purchase a Tec-9 submachine gun as part of a 'buy-and-bust' operation. The detectives were in their vehicle with two suspects, Ronell Wilson and Jessie Jacobus, when the deal took a fatal turn.
