In the early morning hours of a summer day in Brooklyn, a barbecue filled with people turned into a scene of tragedy. On June 22, 2014, Donnell Nashaun Smith, a 26-year-old male, was at a gathering at 281 Powell Street in the Brownsville neighborhood.
