On the night of June 18, 2023, a violent altercation in Brooklyn led to the death of 32-year-old Rolando Blanco-Duarte. After spending the evening at a bar with two acquaintances, an argument erupted inside a building on 41st Street near New Utrecht Avenue in Borough Park. The dispute escalated, and Blanco-Duarte was shot twice.
Following the shooting, the two men, identified as 27-year-old Luis Marroquin-Cerna and 29-year-old Rodolfo Lopez, took Blanco-Duarte's body and drove to a
wooded area in Chester County, Pennsylvania. In an attempt to conceal the crime, they dumped his body and set it on fire. Authorities in Pennsylvania discovered the remains and notified the New York Police Department after identifying Blanco-Duarte.
An investigation by the NYPD led to the arrests of Marroquin-Cerna and Lopez on July 4, 2023. Both men were subsequently charged with murder.
