Jahzeph Crooks, a 19-year-old from Brooklyn, NY, was tragically killed on August 29, 2014. Crooks was fatally shot in a Bushwick liquor store, an incident that was part of a broader spree of violence. The perpetrator, Clayton Gravenhise, a member of the Hood Starz street gang, was on a revenge mission following the murder of his brother, Nathaniel Gravenhise, earlier that year.
