In the Bronx, a 43-year-old man named Francisco Frank Restitullo was lured into an apartment on East 187th Street and fatally shot on March 9, 2014. The investigation into his death revealed a chilling sequence of events.
Investigators determined that Jose Feliciano, also known as 'Chino,' was responsible for the death of Restitullo, a man he hardly knew. Inside the apartment, Feliciano shot Restitullo five times before stealing his wallet and jeans.
In August of 2014, Feliciano was arrested and subsequently charged with murder.
Immediately after killing Restitullo, Feliciano encountered an 18-year-old man entering the same building. He proceeded to rob the teenager of his cellphone, wallet, and hat. Feliciano also pistol-whipped the young man, resulting in a broken finger and a head wound that required eight staples to close.
Following a seven-week trial, a jury convicted Jose Feliciano of second-degree murder and first-degree robbery on April 4, 2017. On May 10, 2017, a Bronx Supreme Court Justice sentenced Feliciano to a total of 37 years-to-life in prison. He received 25 years-to-life for the murder of Francisco Restitullo and a consecutive sentence of 12 years for the robbery and assault of the teenager.
