Melshawn Cook, a 24-year-old resident of the Bronx, New York, was tragically found dead on June 3, 2017. He was discovered behind a house on Wheeler Avenue near Westchester Avenue in the Soundview neighborhood. Cook had sustained a gunshot wound to the right side of his chest. Despite being rushed to Jacobi Medical Center, he was pronounced dead upon arrival. The incident occurred around 9:45 p.m., and Cook's death marked the third homicide in the Bronx's 43rd Precinct that year.
