Nelson Mattocks, a 49-year-old NYCHA maintenance worker from Astoria, Queens, was tragically killed on August 19, 2022, in the Bronx. Mattocks was on his lunch break, eating in a playground behind the St. Mary’s Park Houses on East 156th Street in Longwood, when two suspects on a motorized scooter approached and opened fire. He was shot multiple times, including in the face, and was rushed to Lincoln Hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries shortly after.
