On a Friday afternoon in the bustling borough of Brooklyn, a life was tragically cut short. Twenty-year-old Shaheem Bernard, a Black male, was inside a check-cashing establishment on Broadway in the Bushwick neighborhood on November 24, 2017, when an argument escalated into fatal violence.
