In the early morning hours of December 19, 2017, a young man, 21-year-old Dail Ramessar, was found shot to death inside a car in Queens, New York. The male victim was discovered in a Cadillac Escalade parked near 125th Street and Atlantic Avenue in the South Richmond Hill neighborhood. Ramessar had been shot multiple times in the chest. Emergency medical services responded to the scene and transported him to a local hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
The investigation into
Ramessar's murder led police to two individuals, Richard Davenport and Neville Brown. Security camera footage from that morning showed a Mercedes Benz, driven by Brown with Davenport in the passenger seat, circling the block where Ramessar's vehicle was parked. The footage then captured both men exiting their vehicle and approaching the Cadillac from opposite sides. Davenport was seen firing several shots into Ramessar's vehicle before both men fled the scene in the Mercedes.
In a significant break in the case, the shell casings recovered from the scene of Ramessar's murder were later matched to another fatal shooting that occurred in January 2018. This connection, along with other evidence, led to the arrests of Davenport and Brown. In November 2022, both men pleaded guilty to manslaughter in the death of Dail Ramessar. Their guilty pleas were part of a larger case that connected them to a string of fatal shootings in the Queens area. Following their pleas, Richard Davenport was sentenced to 29 years in prison, while Neville Brown received a sentence of 15 years.
