The city of Rochester's new year began with violence when 30-year-old Arthur Stevens was shot and killed inside a home on Stout Street on January 1, 2019, marking the city's first homicide of the year. The incident, which occurred around 5:00 a.m., also left a 29-year-old woman, Lisa Johnson, with a non-life-threatening gunshot wound to her upper body.
