On a Friday afternoon in January 2019, the quiet neighborhood of Middle Village, Queens, was disturbed by a tragic event. Nicholas Mencaroni, a 40-year-old male who had served as an officer with the New York Police Department for 15 years, was found in his home with a life-threatening injury. A 911 call was placed at approximately 2:29 p.m. on January 25th from his residence near 69th Lane and Juniper Boulevard South, summoning officers from the 104th Precinct to the scene.
