Deshawn Smart, a 47-year-old resident of Red Hook, Brooklyn, was found dead on March 16, 2019, at the Marcy Houses complex in Bedford-Stuyvesant, Brooklyn. He was discovered with a gunshot wound to the chest, lying next to a Citi Bike. The incident occurred at around 9:30 a.m., and Smart was pronounced dead at the scene.
