Steven Silks, a 62-year-old Deputy Chief of the New York Police Department (NYPD), tragically took his own life on June 5, 2019, in Queens, New York. Silks, who had served the NYPD for over 38 years, was found dead in his unmarked police car near the 112th Precinct Stationhouse. His body was discovered by a security guard from the West Side Tennis Club, who initially did not recognize him as a member of the NYPD.
