In the early morning hours of January 16, 2020, the life of 33-year-old Mark Allen Peak was tragically cut short in Utica, New York. Peak, a Black male, was seated in a vehicle on the 900 block of Lenox Avenue when he was fatally shot multiple times. The incident occurred at approximately 1:52 a.m., and despite being rushed to a local hospital for emergency surgery, he succumbed to his injuries.
The Utica Police Department launched an investigation into the homicide, canvassing the
neighborhood for witnesses and evidence. However, the case has proven difficult to solve. To date, no arrests have been made in connection with Peak's death, and no suspects have been publicly identified. The investigation into the shooting remains ongoing and is now considered a cold case.
In an effort to generate new leads, law enforcement officials have made public appeals for information. The Mohawk Valley Crime Stoppers has highlighted the case, urging anyone with knowledge of the incident to come forward. A cash reward has been offered for information that leads to an arrest, as the community and Peak's family continue to await justice.
