On April 12, 2023, at approximately 8:15 a.m., Utica Police responded to a reported shooting at 813 Warren Street in West Utica. Upon arrival, they discovered 49-year-old James Jackson of Utica with gunshot wounds; he was pronounced dead at the scene. Several individuals were present in the residence at the time of the incident, and a suspect description was quickly developed.
