On July 3, 2021, Jineedi Sheikh, a 14-year-old from Utica, NY, tragically lost his life due to a gunshot wound to the head. The incident occurred on Jefferson Avenue, where police responded to reports of a shooting. Upon arrival, they found Jineedi critically injured. He was immediately transported to Upstate Medical Center in Syracuse for advanced emergency care, but despite the medical team's efforts, he succumbed to his injuries.
