In the early hours of a summer morning in Brooklyn, a burst of violence cut short the life of 22-year-old Terrence Bazile. On July 2, 2020, at approximately 12:30 a.m., Bazile was shot in the hip in front of a residence at 623 East 96th Street in the East Flatbush neighborhood. The location of the shooting was just five blocks from his own home on East 91st Street.
Following the shooting, Bazile was brought to Brookdale University Medical Center.
Despite medical efforts, he succumbed to his injuries and died at the hospital. A single bullet had struck an artery, leading to his death. Investigators from the 67th Precinct who arrived at the scene of the shooting discovered approximately 14 shell casings, indicating a significant and violent confrontation had taken place.
The investigation into the death of Terrence Bazile was immediately hampered by a lack of cooperation from witnesses. This reluctance to come forward with information created a significant obstacle for law enforcement in identifying a suspect. To date, the assailant remains unknown, and no arrests have been made in connection with the shooting. The case remains an open and unsolved homicide, a painful reality for a family and community still seeking answers and justice for a life taken too soon.
